The Journey West

Where the prairie meets the peaks

Ninety minutes west of Calgary, the foothills give way to something extraordinary. The Trans-Canada Highway threads into the Bow Valley, where the Rockies rise in sheer limestone walls, their summits dusted white even in summer. This is one of the most storied drives on Earth — and you'll watch it unfold from the comfort of your seat.

The Canadian Rockies are a living wilderness. Glacier-fed rivers run an impossible shade of turquoise, coloured by fine rock flour suspended in the meltwater. Lodgepole pine and Engelmann spruce cloak the lower slopes, while above the treeline, alpine meadows bloom for a few brilliant weeks. Elk graze the valley floors at dusk; bighorn sheep pick their way along the ridgelines; and if you're fortunate, a grizzly may amble across a distant avalanche path.

Protected within Banff and Jasper National Parks — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — this landscape has stirred travellers for more than a century. We simply make the getting there effortless.

The Bow Valley
Where We Roam

Four corners of wonder

Every excursion is shaped around the season and the group — but these are the landscapes that await.

01

Banff & the Bow Valley

A storybook mountain town wrapped in peaks, hot springs and pine. Wander Banff Avenue beneath Cascade Mountain, ride the gondola up Sulphur Mountain, and breathe air that smells of spruce and snowmelt.

02

Lake Louise & Moraine

The jewels of the Rockies — twin glacial lakes of luminous turquoise framed by the Valley of the Ten Peaks. Few sights on the continent rival that first glimpse of the water against the glaciers.

03

The Icefields Parkway

One of the world's great mountain roads, linking Lake Louise to Jasper past glaciers, waterfalls and the vast Columbia Icefield. Every bend reveals a new cathedral of rock and ice.

04

Jasper & Maligne Lake

Wilder and quieter than its southern neighbour, Jasper is a dark-sky preserve of emerald lakes and roaming wildlife. Stand on the shore of Maligne Lake where the mountains fold endlessly into the distance.
